Smart shoes can give you directions!

hapticfootwear
Ach, SMARTSHOES ??? wow now i can say ' all smart everything'! cars, phones, roads, clothes, everything is becoming smart-ened-so to speak.
Indian company Lechal have decided to take wearable technology to an unusual body part: the feet. In pre-order for $ 150 (NGN 24412.50), the interactive footwear carries a small device used to
communicate with your smartphone via bluetooth and vibrates the right or left shoe to show which way you should turn. The product has no GPS, but uses data from the smartphone for the location.
If the model doesn’t fit your style or you just find it too expensive, you can just buy the insoles seperately and they have the same functionality, however, there is no set price yet. They are said to fit in most shoes and have minimal affect on comfort, the website claiming they are ‘almost invisble‘.  They are made from an anti-bacterial and breathable fabric that can be washed as they are water resistant.
The smart shoes are more than just a navigation assistant as well. They can also determine the number of calories burned and count your steps to assist with your fitness training. Besides walking and jogging, the haptic vibration system indicating where to go can also be used in vehicles such as cars, motorcycles and bicycles – although we aren’t sure how confusing that might be if you associate the vibrations with which pedal to press.
The bluetooth device responsible for the brains of the system can be recharged with a specific wall charger that also comes with fast-charging USB ports for other devices such as smartphones and tablets. It comes with a neat little feature where at a snap of the fingers the charger will respond by making different sounds corresponding to the level of charge in the battery.
Another nifty little feature of the tech is that you will never leave your phone behind again; when you are over a certain distance away from your phone the shoes will vibrate in a unique way to let you know that you have left your phone behind.
Another thing that came to mind is that these may have great implications for the blind, who have to rely on bumped pavement guides and memory to get around.
Even though they are taking pre-orders, there is unfortunately still no set release date.
