Bullet design hasn’t seen any major design changes in a long time. Up until now the only way that you could fire a gun and have it curve around
and change course in mid-flight was when playing “Wanted” on your games console but this could be set to change as DARPA say that they are able to curve the path of the bullet and more, thanks to the EXACTO, aka Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance bullet.

This is bullet unlike any other as it can manoeuvre whilst in flight and still hit the target spot on. DARPA haven’t given away the clues as to how the bullet actually works and i don’t expect them to. However they did give a vague public description.
“The system combines a manoeuvrable bullet and a real-time guidance system to track and deliver the projectile to the target, allowing the bullet to change path during flight to compensate for any unexpected factors that may drive it off course. Technology development in Phase II included the design, integration and demonstration of aero-actuation controls, power sources, optical guidance systems, and sensors.”

This new technology means that the bullet would be able to deal with dust, wind and many other factors that would normally affect the accuracy of the sniper firing. It would also diminish the risk of the shot missing and giving away the location of the sniper.
